BETTINA KREB - SQUARING THE CIRCLE

BETTINA KREB
SQUARING THE CIRCLE

1 June - 1 September 2015

Bettina Kreb was born in 1976 in Kaufbeuren. She trained as a goldsmith after HFG Pforzheim and at the art academy GRA Amsterdam up to the Bachelor of Design. Stays abroad and insights into various fields of work shaped the artist's working methods. After a short stay at Lake Constance, during which she created the sculpture "Diabetic Foot" on behalf of the Klinikum Konstanz, which was shown on Mainau Island in 2011 and is still on display at the Klinikum, Bettina now lives and works in Berlin.

"In her artistic work Bettina Kreb tries to approach the "inner picture" of persons, things and circumstances in the sense of a fusion of external sensory perceptions with her own emotional inner life as well as possible", writes the Kulturbüro about the artist's work.

What this means in concrete terms can be seen in the exhibition. In "Squaring the Circle" Bettina shows photographs and drawings. Recurring moments are whirling movements in various art forms. "Rhythms, waves, something like that interests me," says Bettina. The origin of this lies in her childhood, she explains: "As a child I used to count on the beach how many small waves came up before a big one. Observing nature, its structures and regularities fascinates me.
