BETTINA KREB - SQUARING THE CIRCLE

BETTINA KREB
SQUARING THE CIRCLE

June 1 - September 1, 2015

Bettina Kreb was born in Kaufbeuren in 1976. Following her training as a goldsmith, she studied at the HFG Pforzheim and the GRA Amsterdam Art Academy, culminating in a Bachelor of Design. Stays abroad and insights into various fields of work have shaped the artist's working methods. After a brief stay on Lake Constance, during which she created the sculpture “Diabetic Foot” commissioned by the Konstanz Clinic, which was exhibited on the island of Mainau in 2011 and is still on display in the clinic, Bettina now lives and works in Berlin.

The cultural office writes about the artist's work: “In her artistic work, Bettina Kreb tries to approach the “inner image” of people, things and facts in the sense of a fusion of external sensory perceptions with her own emotional inner life as well as possible.”

What this means specifically can be seen in the exhibition. In “Squaring the Circle”, Bettina shows photographs and drawings. A recurring element is swirling movements in various art forms. “Rhythms, waves, that's what interests me,” says Bettina. The origin of this lies in her childhood, she explains: “As a child, I always counted how many small waves come before a big one forms. Observing nature, its structures and laws fascinates me.”
