UGUR ORHANOGLU - WATER
UGUR ORHANOGLU
WATER
September 9, 2015 - June 30, 2016
Born in Holzheim in May 1969 as the son of Turkish immigrants, Ugur Orhanoglu grew up mostly in Neuss near Düsseldorf. Since 1990 photography has been a central theme in his life. It began when his mother sent him off to buy a camera for his father. However, his father had not even been able to shoot a single film on his own, because Ugur discovered photography for himself and from that moment on he never left the house without his camera. The exhibition entitled 'Water' is, as the title suggests, dedicated to one of his favourite subjects, water. I have always been fascinated by the element of water in its clarity and its ability to refract light in many different ways, Ugur says about his passion for water. In everyday life we encounter water most often when it just comes out of the shower head or the tap. Our eyes usually only recognize a ray in a blurred form, with more or less air bubbles decomposed.
If our eye were able to resolve 1000, 2000 or more images per second instead of 25, we would gain insight into a universe with its infinite variety of colors and shapes.
With the technical possibilities of photography, I have made this extensive spectrum visible to the viewer and was thus able to capture some moments that otherwise escape our human eye. Thereby I discovered an infinite wealth. A jet of water, which always seems to look the same in our eyes, is subject to constant change and none of these photographs can be reproduced. Each picture is therefore both unique and fascinating.
