MACHA MACHA
The Macha Macha tea salon in Kreuzköln on Hermannplatz in Berlin was the oasis when it came to Japanese teas or when you wanted to hide away from the stress of everyday life. It was a modern interpretation of typical Japanese tea rooms and was co-designed by a Feng Shui master. There, Eric Spieckschen imparted Japanese tea culture on a level that would make any Japanese jealous. During his studies, Erik Spieckschen studied Japanese as a second subject and spent a little time in Japan every now and then. After Eric quit his job, he went on a pilgrimage through Japan. It was here that he was inspired to let Berliners enjoy Japanese tea and to offer them a place where they can get to know and celebrate Japanese tea culture. Especially with tea, water plays a skin role. So Eric visited us in our loft in 2014 and we tested different teas with different qualities of water together for several hours. Eric still prepares our high-quality teas with filtered and vitalised water in his tea salon, just as he did back then. Unfortunately, the Macha Macha has been closed since 2020 and you now have to fly back to Japan for such a special tea place.
